Updated Entry 21st October 2019:

Vale Patrick Carroll, 1949 – 2019. One of our favourite artists.

Patrick Carroll is a contemporary realist artist. He is constantly walking a fine line between the comfort of realism and the pulsating line and colour in an expressionist mode, which seeks to surprise and energise the viewer. He has developed a technique where abstraction is pushed into reality. He regularly travels to paint “en plein air” and prefers acrylic paint on canvas or paper.

He has a vibrant personality with a passion for everything he creates. He is often working on several artworks at one time as a collective body of work. This can be based on a particular location, season, event or colour pallette. Whether it’s a bushfire theme or a focus on reflective waters by cliff, his work is created with a unique energetic style. One of his most popular series is based around the Hawkesbury. It’s not only the location that links this body of work together, the overall palette and use of light that shines between the shrubs along the shore is a key component.
