This iconic view of Sydney was painted by Sally West en plein air in 2014 and has remained hidden away in her studio to dry ever since. Her heavy application of oil paint takes months to dry but is well worth the wait – the painting surface is certainly something to be admired! Her technique is similar to that of a sculptor, working the material for depth and texture. Her muted palette is soft and subtle – perfect for this city subject.
